Title: Director of Product Marketing, Mobility Infrastructure

Ross Cassan is director of product marketing for the Mobility Infrastructure business unit within Spirent’s Networks, Applications and Infrastructure division and is responsible for strategy, marketing and promotion for Spirent’s flagship product Landslide. Spirent Landslide enables end-to-end testing of the entire Mobile & Wi-Fi eco-system.

In addition, he is has been a key contributor to many technical standards bodies such as the Broadband Forum and TIA.

Ross joined Spirent in 1999 had has held positions in product management and product marketing for both hardware and software platforms. Prior to joining Spirent, Ross held marketing positions at Newbridge Networks and Nortel.

If the excitement of Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2019 illustrated any key lesson, it’s that 5G is intensifying the rate of digital transformation for Communications Service Providers (CSPs) as they respond to challenges on multiple fronts: They must compete against both traditional service providers and web-scale companies such as Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, and Google; defend their existing revenue streams; and generate new revenue by offering innovative digital services. To deliver on their promises to their customers of digital transformation and 5G, CSPs will want to embrace extreme operations automation and look at every opportunity to reduce human intervention.

Spirent Helps IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group Accelerate 5G for China

In China, the major platform promoting 5G research is the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, a non-profit jointly established in February 2013 by three ministries in China—the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Any vendor with plans to take a leading position in 5G must meet the IMT-2020 requirements. Spirent’s testing and assurance system and expertise have been playing a notable role helping many vendors accomplish that.
